The initiatives that comprise the Great Canadian Network,  They are designed to promote healthy eating, introduce new products, and provide fun activities for people across the country.

These will perhaps one day become the programming for the Great Canadian Network channel on television and the Internet, helping to promote company products and increasing sales.

The place to go for youngsters to have their birthday parties. From a young age, these children will learn that a Loblaws -owned supermarket is a very special place, and they will remember when it comes time for them to do their own shopping as adults.

The company will hold blood drives in selected  stores located across the country twice each year.  The first event will be held on Thanksgiving week-end, and the second event will held on Valentine's Day week-end in February, from Thursday to Sunday.The events will take place under the themes: Give Thanks, Give Blood for Thanksgiving, and Give Love, Give Blood for Valentine's Day. There is a need for this type of event, in future years, Canadians   will associate  Thankgiving Day and Valentine's Day with blood donation.

There are three objectives of the blood drives.
1. The first priority is to solicit the maximum amount of blood donations from donors across the country. Blood can be stored only for a period of four months. Therefore three blood donation week-ends would be ideal. Perhaps the third week-end could be held on the July 1st Canada-Day week-end. In this way, we could cover the entire year.

2. The second objective is to provide customers the opportunity to fill-out organ donation forms, and give information on the importance of filling out the forms. It only takes a minute to save a life.

3. The third objective is to provide information about bone-marrow donation and registration forms. We recently had a former colleague lose her fiance to leukemia, and the only way to save him was through a bone-marrow transplant. They ran out of time and now she has lost her high school sweetheart. Better preparation and more information might have saved his life.

Week-end mornings, young people will make a habit of attending these book-reading events. They will share their favourite stories, trade books, and make new friends.

Less-fortunate children will benefit from food programs run through their local stores.  A healthy mind begins with a full stomach.

Business people from across the country will volunteer for this program and become mentors to budding entrepreneurs and aspiring executives.

Located in selected stores, the Cafe will offer a wide variety of coffee beans from around the world. There will also be a seating area where shoppers can linger over a freshly-brewed cup of coffee, and contemplate the rest of their day, or enjoy a pleasant conversation with friends and family.

Certain to be a hit, famous chefs from each city will offer brilliant recipes, tips and tricks of the trade, and secret ideas that will be certain to delight their avid shoppers.

From early May to late October, the Food Truck will visit communities across the country, introducing new products, new ideas, and new new recipes to Canadians.
It will be one of the most eagerly anticipated events at each location the truck visits.
